ROSEWOOD STATE TRAINING SCHOOL
The Rosewood training school was established in the late 1800s to treat individuals with mental retardation. A little web research and a large safe in the basement of the school packed with incident reports is enough to tell that something wasn't right here. Reports of physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect and unsanitary living conditions were most common problems contributing to the schools disturbing past. While the campus is still active with newer facilities all of the old buildings remain abandoned or partially active. The center is now supposedly one of the better in the state for the treatment of individuals with mental retardation.
