Hmm? I am sure 99% of people were out exploring today in this lovely weather.

Yeah, I just saw that on UER, it sucks.

But what are you hinting at? Like an explorer set the fire by accident?

I live about 4 miles away, heard sirens for about an hour and went outside to investigate. Saw a massive cloud of smoke going up into the sky and pretty much assumed it was the hospital. Drove over there and sure enough it was on fire again... Funny cause I drove thru the campus this afternoon thinking I should check it out soon...

3rd times a charm. I can't imagine they are going to keep putting up with this.

I saw the smoke plume when I got on 795 to head out to work this evening at around 6PM. I don't get why people are so interested in burning this complex to the ground.

I was not hinting at that, just glad there were not any explorers in at the time. I would imagine being caught when something like this happened would not turn out very well.

Fire destroys vacant building at Rosewood
    By Richard Irwin | dick.irwin@baltsun.com
    March 9, 2009

The fire that spread to an adjacent building was put out, but the damaged building was allowed to burn down.

A fire last night at a vacant building on the campus of the Rosewood Center in Owings Mills destroyed that building, and embers from the fire burned part of an adjacent vacant structure, a spokesman for the Baltimore County Fire Department said. Fire Director Kyrle Preis, the spokesman, said that because the two-story brick building was slated for demolition, the officer in charge at the scene ordered firefighters to let it burn rather than endanger the lives of firefighters. "It was declared a control burn," Preis said. The fire at the second building was extinguished. Rosewood, which opened in 1888, housed nearly 3,700 people at its peak. Its patient numbers have dwindled, and many long-vacant hospital buildings will soon be demolished.

Damn. That was on my short-list of places to visit soon, and that's probably going to make things a lot more difficult (and impossible, in the case of the building that's now gone.)

Honestly, I don't think anyone would have had the most amazing luck getting in at this point. I was there two weeks ago, the building that burned was surrounded by workers and there was a cop suv a stones throw away. In fact, it followed us off of the property.

I drove thru the property right before the fire, must have been an hour. Place was a ghost town. No workers, no cops and hardly any traffic.

We went there the very next night after the fire. We didn't know the building had burnt down until we got there that night and we saw embers and coals still burning in the rubble that hadn't extinghuised yet. It's ashame because the building that burned was the one with all the cribs in the basement and the office furniture upstairs, one of the better buildings to go check out there. I bet they speed up the demo plans now though after the 3rd fire there now. As for security there wasn't a person to be seen and we were on the property for atleast 3 hours if not longer.
Chuck - This is the worse day of my life.
Tyler - It could be worse. A woman could cut off your penis while you're sleeping and toss it out the window of a moving car.
    Chuck - There's always that.
