Exclamation Eastern State - Trip Confirmed!

I called to lock in our field trip to Eastern State Penitentiary today, so here are the details:

    Date: Saturday, April 26, 2008

Time: Guided tour for just our group will be at 1:00 pm and lasts about an hour. We will then have until the site closes for the day at 5:00 pm to wander around and photograph at our leisure. I'm going to say meeting time at ESP will be at 12:30pm at the latest to give us time to pay and sign waivers without cutting into tour time.

Cost: $7.50 per adult PLUS a $5.00 tripod fee (both are discounted for our size) for a grand ESP price of $12.50

If you could please help me out: When you decide you are free to definitely join us on this trip, could you please get in touch with me directly to confirm either through a PM here or my email (listed on my profile) with the following information:
    Name
Contact phone number (particularly for April 26)
Willing to drive for others? y/n
How many can you fit in your vehicle/who are you already taking in your vehicle? (not counting yourself)
    Your Location: city/state

These will make it easier for me to keep things semi-organized and help those who need it get in touch with travel methods.

Note: absolutely no personal information given to me will be passed along or shared in any way, shape or form. They are for my organizational purposes only.

    Official ESP Website

Please feel free to ask me any questions and I'll do my best to answer. If you are looking for a ride, please let me know and I'll try to set you up with a carpool.

If at any time anyone is interested in setting up another tour (missed the first, back for round #2, summer twilight tour, Haunted House, etc.) I would be fine with getting back in touch with them to try to set it up, they already have my info on file.

I've already gotten a bunch of confirmations which is very awesome! I'm excited about the trip, hope you all are, too.

Already had a question (which is great!) about money:

$12.50 is the cost per person in our group for the tour AND tripod fee. This is discounted due to our size so I would first like to kindly request that everyone go ahead and bring their tripods along and toss in the extra $5 rather than leave the gear to save a couple of bucks.

    1) Logistically it will be easier to have everyone pay one price then get to the gate and find we need to re-negotiate numbers because we only have 4 tripods (I hope this makes sense).

    2) It will make it easier to do the money exchange at the gate (which brings me to the actual question asked: When and how do we give over the money?). My current plan is collect $12.50 from everyone when we meet at 12:30pm prior to our 1pm tour. This method may be subject to change, but for now plan on having me collect your cash and get our tickets all together.

Does free run of the place mean we can bring in models as long as they pay and does my tripod fee cover lightstands?
    I am so smart. I am so smart. "S" "M" "R" "T". I mean, "S" "M" "A" "RRRRRR" "T" - Mr. Simpson

Whoa questions!!! Corley; send yours to me again (something about an electric chair and something else) and Village; I doubt so on the topic of model, but I'll ask and not sure on the light stand, I'll check that, too.

I KNEW I was going to forget my paperwork this morning...

Stay tuned for updates, either tonight or tomorrow morning. I got my packet of information from ESP and WILL have new information for you all.

    New information (2/26/08):

I have waivers!! To make everyone's life a little easier, I am aiming to be at ESP as close to 12:00pm on April 26th as possible in order to get all of the paper work and money taken care of. Our tour will most likely end ON TIME, even if we don't start on time at 1:00pm, so the earlier we can get there and get money collected/waivers signed, the better. I'll print out the waivers for everyone to sign that day and that would be the best time to give me your $12.50.

Waiver #1 basically says you are aware you're entering an abandonment, know that you're taking risks and ESP is not responsible for your stupidity. Pretty basic stuff in REALLY fancy leagalese.

Waiver #2 is the photography waiver:

"We ask that you honor these policies when photographing at Eastern State Penitentiary:

-Do not block any pathways or exhibits, or leave backpacks or tripods in these areas.

-Refrain from loud conversations and avoid gathering along the audio tour route.

-NO SMOKING is permitted ANYWHERE within the penitentiary complex.

-Please do not touch or move any ojbects or artifacts.

-NO MODELS or PROPS are permitted during public hours.

-Eastern State Penitentiary charges a $10.00 fee (reduced to $5 for our group), per person with a tripod, monopod or easel, to all non-members. This pass is VALID FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON. There is no fee for handheld cameras. No equipment, other than a single tripod, monopod or easel, are permitted during public hours.

-Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site requires the location credit "Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, PA" in all uses of penitentiary photos in print, on the web, in broadcast, and in any other public medium.

-Eastern State Penitentiary assumes no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to equipment."

    Then you sign.

I know at least 2 questions were addressed in this. If you have any questions that were not covered in the above, let me know. I am collecting a list to ask all at once when the date gets closer. Since I was asked about models and that answer was given, I will still be asking if/when ESP has a time they do allow them and will share whatever information I find out.

I also have a PDF copy of the map and key of ESP. If you would like me to email said PDF to you, please let me know directly with the email address you would like it sent to.

    Thanks!!
