Wow, i'm suprised they actually take people on tours of the place. I figured it was too radioactive.....seems kinda neat though.

I remember researching that for a good week when I first found out about it.

I'd love to be able to go there someday, its such an barren place now.

We already live in a hot spot for cancer, maryland is in and out of the top 5 cancer states in the nation. On top of the pollution and smog we generate ourselves everything from the south south/west blows right thru here too. Not to mention all that sandwiched with one of the countries largest chemical weapon stockpiles on one side and chem/germ labs and stockpiles on the other... You have bigger problems to worry about than 20 yr old fallout

    Default Chernobyl

I was doing some research about the Chernobyl disaster. If you like Urban Exploring you should look and read what this woman has to offer. She tours towns and villages on her motorcycle to see what has been left behind. These places have been abandoned since 1986. Time stands still... Pretty awesome...

the next page button is small and at the bottom of the page. It takes a few chapters to get into it but its worth seeing her picture montage.

The only way this could be a hoax is if she stole the pictures.... at least they are cool to look at and discover this lost city.

You can tell half of them are edited as in bike or here was added into other photos. The quality is garbage.

There is a website somewhere that disproves it. I think its setup by the people who actually give the Chernobyl tours I mentioned. Ill see if I can find it.

There is a write-up from the NY Times but you need to register http://travel2.nytimes.com/2005/06/1...chernobyl.html

    Some quotes...

"one group came for a hoax. About two years ago, Mr. Tatarchuk said, a Ukrainian woman booked a tour, wore a leather biker jacket and posed for pictures. Soon there appeared a Web site in which the woman, using the name Elena, claimed that she had been given an unlimited pass by her father, a nuclear physicist and Chernobyl researcher ("Thank you, Daddy!" she wrote) and now roamed the ruins at will on her Kawasaki Big Ninja.

The site, www.kiddofspeed.com, billed as a tale "where one can ride with no stoplights, no police, no danger to hit some cage or some dog," was a sensation, duping uncountable viewers before being discredited." -- C.J. Chivers, NY-Times
