I explore cuz I magically get lost in these abandoned places, then I have to find my way out.

    Yeah, thats why.

Really, it's the photography. Which is sick cuz I haven't shot an abandoned location in a lil while. At the same time I'm a history buff, 'specially w/ state hospitals, old factories, and the like.

I like to explore because not only is it a thrill never knowing if you are going to get caught... But also I love the photo's and I am working on getting a bit better at it.. Seeing all the machinery and stuff from the past is a perk as well

Am I the only one here that *isn't* a security-evading adrenaline junkie? Totally my least favourite occupational hazard after asbestos.

The thrill of evading security etc...was alot more interesting when I first started than it is now. For me it is/was something I grew out of. Now it's just a headache and I'll avoid it when possible. Although it doesnt stop me from going places I want to go.

Today we move towards a lifstyle of human values, based on love, governed by honesty, and secured by trust. No longer do we stand alone. We must be as open as the air, with the will to survive, the will to learn, and the will to create. We are a creative force motivated by each other. For the will of the people is the greatest force conceivable." - written on wall of mental hospital

Running from the cops is soooooo D5.
I'd rather take my time and not have to watch my back.

100% exactly! I'm a permission getter when ever possible. And if I don't have permission I doing all the research possible to not have to deal with security. Stupid bastards have no reason to bother us anyway. If we were there to do harm we wouldn't be carrying expensive camera equipment!

Video games, computers, music, drinking, or exploring. I think we all know which one wins on a Saturday morning.

    I explore because:

    1. it's serious business.
    2. chicks dig serious business.
    All I do is party...

What a neat bunch of well spoken people you are. Just when I thought Stealthmonkey and I were alone in the universe we stumble upon a group of like minded folks.

Anyway, I dont think I could say anything thats not already been said, but for me its so surreal to walk into a place thats been sort of forgotten in time...lost in the shuffle. Everything else has moved on, but there's this lonely slab of history all dusty, and broken, and beautiful...just waiting to be captured by film and appreciated.

Whoever said that bit about it being sort of like a time capsule... so true.
