    Default A Research Challenge

Simple, find this building. What is it? Where is it?

This is what you know. It is very near the MD/PA border and NW of sabillasville. Might be MD, might be PA.

    Well - it's a church.

A big ole barn style door and multiple fireplaces would make me think twice about that.

Do you actually know the answer or are you really asking us?

If I answered that question it would effect your chances of solving this puzzle.

I want to say that the barn door came later.
    Have more pictures of it?
This is a VERY unique building. . . . I am sure it is mentioned somewhere.

So did you (or someone else) give the .jpg a new filename?

"something" did... The forum renames images when you upload them. There are no clues in the filename.

Ok here is my wild guess...

    historic former Maples Hotel
    25305 Cascade Road
    Cascade, MD 21719
    Primary Structure Built 1900

I could be totally wrong but my mind gets locked on and I start seeing things... Match the colors.

Hmm... a new finding leads me away from my previous guess.

New image found. Photographer again calls it a church. The raised rectangular piece on the front roof could have been the base for a steeple.

"Run down Church in Cascade, MD, sorry to see such a beautiful building in decay, and being used as a junkyard."

I had been focused very much on Cascade (and Highfield) as well, but nothing more than an intuitive blip. I don't do research very well when it's outside my field.

Still I don't feel bad that you were also using the blurry Google Maps photos. I was pissed to see that PA was clear when zoomed in all the way, but not that part of MD!
